OUR STORY
Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic West End, 2–4 Hope Street is a building full of charm and character with a story that stretches back over two centuries.
Built around 1790, it’s part of the city’s beautiful Georgian New Town and has always held a special place in the local community.
Over the years, this space has seen many lives. Previously opening its doors as Rankin’s Fruit Shop and florist, serving fresh produce and flowers to the neighbourhood.
Later, it changed hands and purposes, becoming a general store before taking on a whole new energy in the late 1980s when it became Ryan’s Bar, a lively and much-loved spot known for its relaxed atmosphere, great drinks, and distinctive style.
We’re proud to bring Ryan’s back; refreshed, reimagined, and ready for a new chapter. This latest version of Ryan’s blends the warmth and familiarity of its past with a fresh design and a renewed focus on atmosphere, hospitality, and quality.
The building may have evolved, but the spirit of good times and great company remains at its heart.
